Kew Gardens 3

The final set of images from our trip to Kew begins on the Treetop Walkway: a platform, high up in the tree canopy, which sways rather alarmingly in the breeze.  It gives great views, though - especially of the nesting green parakeets.

By now the sky had clouded over, which suited me as I wanted to take some long exposure images of the building in the garden - especially the palm house.

I feel some monochromes coming on...

Kew Gardens 2

Another set of pictures from our trip to Kew in May.  Again, these are in no particular order.

Lunch was an al fresco affair, enjoyed by humans and pigeons alike.

I managed to take a couple of pictures inside one of the galleries before Harriet pointed out the No Photography sign on the wall.  Oops.

The final two of this set were taken as we headed the "Treetop Walkway".

Kew Gardens 1

A couple of weeks ago, Harriet and I joined a Cambridge Camera Club outing to the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.  I hadn't been there for ages, and it was lovely just wandering around in the enormous grounds in the warm spring sunshine.

I'm not quite sure what Harriet was doing in a bush, but maybe she'll tell me one day?

There were a couple of "guardians" in period dress at the main entrance to Kew Palace, and they were not keen on me going inside because of the tripod strapped to the side of my backpack.  As a result I was forced to wander around outside instead.

What follows is a random collection of specimens (animal, vegetable and mineral) in no particular order.

The last couple of pictures from this set are of bark from a rather beautiful eucalyptus tree.

More excitement from Kew to follow...
